Legendary filmmaker Basu Chatterjee passes away at 93
Filmmaker Basu Chatterjee, who directed films such as ‘Rajnigandha’, ‘Baaton Baaton Mein’,’Ek Ruka Hua Faisla’ ‘Chitchor’, ‘Priyatama’ passed away today in Mumbai. As per reports, he was suffering from age-related ailments. He was 93. His last rites will be performed at 2 pm at Santacruz crematorium.
Indian Film & TV Directors’ Association president Ashoke Pandit took to his Twitter handle to confirm the news. Sharing a black and white picture of the filmmaker, he tweeted, “I am extremely grieved to inform you all the demise of Legendary Filmmaker Basu Chatterjee ji . His last rites will be performed today at Santacruz creamation at 2 pm. It’s a great loss to the industry. Will miss you Sir. #RIPBasuChaterjee.”(sic)

‘Chameli Ki Shaadi’ was his last movie that was commercially successful. Apart from Hindi movies, he also directed many Bengali films such as ‘Hothat Brishti’, ‘Hochcheta Ki’ and ‘Hothat Shei Din’.
