It has always been mandatory for the heroines to be unmarried and single while they existed in the industry as there was a belief that audiences may not accept real life married heroines romancing heroes on screen. But of late some actresses have managed to break the jinx and become successful after their respective marriages. If one flashbacks, there have been quite a few actresses who entered the industry after getting married. Here are some Bollywood lead actresses who made their debut on the silver screen post-marriage.
1. Sunny Leone
Sunny Leone took Bollywood by storm after signing Pooja Bhatt’s ‘Jism 2’ in 2012. She married Daniel Weber in 2011 before making her Bollywood debut. Since then she has done a few item songs and leads in films like ‘Jackpot’, ‘Ragini MMS 2’, ‘Ek Paheli Leela’, ‘Kuch Kuch Locha Hai’, etc.
2. Aditi Rao Hydari
Aditi Rao Hydari got married to actor Satyadeep Mishra in 2006. Soon the two were separated. She made her acting debut in the Malayalam film ‘Prajapathi’ (2006). She debuted in Hindi films with ‘Delhi 6’ in 2008. She came into limelight after her performance in the film “Yeh Saali Zindagi”.
3. Mallika Sherawat
Mallika Sherawat got married to a Jet Airways pilot Captain Karan Singh Gill in the year 2000. But just after one year the couple got divorced in 2001. She made her Hindi screen debut in 2002 in the Kareena Kapoor – Tusshar Kapoor starrer ‘Jeena Sirf Merre Liye’ which unfortunately didn’t do anything for her. But she came into limelight with the films Khwahish and Murder.
4. Chitrangada Singh
The hot dusky beauty broke the barrier for married women in B town. She got married to golfer Jyoti Singh Randhawa in 2001, and made her Bollywood debut in 2003, with Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi. But, the couple was separated in 2013 and then formally got divorced in April 2014.
5. Vidya Malvade
In 1997, Vidya Malvade got married to Capt. Arvind Singh Bagga, who was a pilot with Alliance Air. He died in 2000 when his flight, Alliance Air Flight 7412, crashed into a building in Patna. Vidya started her career with Vikram Bhatt’s Inteha (2003). She acted in Chak De India in the year 2007. In 2009, she married Sanjay Dayma, who worked with Ashutosh Gowariker on the Oscar-nominated Lagaan as the film’s Screenplay Writer & Associate Director.
