Sanjay Gupta sent ‘Akshay Kumar in Sonu Sood biopic’ joke to Sonu Sood; here’s how he reacted
“Akshay Kumar to play Sonu Sood in his biopic”: The joke has been doing the rounds on social media for over a day now. It is in reference to Sonu Sood turning a messiah for migrant workers stranded in Mumbai, who the actor is sending back home by arranging buses for them.
Director Sanjay Gupta, too, saw the joke online and shared it with Sonu over a WhatsApp conversation. “Brother in his next film Akshay Kumar is going to play Sonu Sood! Can I get the rights please?,” he wrote to Sonu.

While some users took the joke in good spirits, some diehard Akshay Kumar fans got offended by it as they perceived it as an insult to the superstar. These people said that Akshay, too, had done his bit to ease the coronavirus crisis in India by donating towards the PM-CARES Fund and other funds set up to help those affected by the pandemic.
Meanwhile, Sonu, on Tuesday, launched a toll free helpline number to facilitate migrant workers. 18001213711 is the number, through which one can reach out to Sonu’s team for help. It is worth mentioning that he has so far transported workers to far off states such as Karnataka, Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh.
About his initiative, which is receiving praise from fans and industry colleagues alike, Sonu said that he had a dedicated team working on it, that was trying to reach out to as many people as possible. He added that they did not know how many people they will be able to help but they were trying.
