Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan has garnered a global viewing of over 7 crores eventually beating the record of Games Of Thrones as well! While over the years we have seen several different versions of Ramayan being made, none of them have managed to come even close to the 1987 Ramayan.

Now, Dipika Chikhlia, who played the role of the Sita in the Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan, has lashed out to those attempting the remake of the much-loved epic. Making sure to not mince her words, Dipika has been quoted by Pinkvilla saying, “I don’t know why people keep making Ramayan. Every year they come up with a new Ramayan. I think people should stop that. I keep wondering why do you try? When you have something already, why try to replicate? The narration, the performances, the simplicity, everything is missing.

There also has been a huge debate around the fact that these actors should be given a certain share of royalty for the success of the re-runs of all the soaps including Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan. Opening up on that, Dipika Chikhlia said, “I have been talking about it to people that I think they should have given us royalty because it is not just about us doing Ramayan, it is about putting 30 more years of our career to keep Ramayan alive even today. We have contributed a larger chunk to it, if it wasn’t us, you wouldn’t see the Ramayan it is today. So, they should share royalty with us.

Well, Dipika Chikhlia has not only made her stand on the royalty debate loud and clear but has also sent a strong message to those trying to constantly remake the epic Ramayan with newer versions with each passing age.
