Celina Jaitly: “My Regret Is That I Never Got To Do The Roles That Suited My Potential As An Actor”
After being crowned Miss India, Celina Jaitly made her way to the films. Without anyone to guide her through, the actress had a good run at the films, but took a break in between. In an exclusive chat with Koimoi, the Season’s Greetings actor spoke about getting too early into the world of cinema. Also how not having a guiding hand until late Feroz Khan came into the picture was difficult.
In the exclusive chat through the Instagram Live session, Celina Jaitly also opened up about the only regret she has about her Bollywood career and how she is at a better position now. The actor is right now promoting her new film Season’s Greetings.
When asked if winning a pageant put her into a box, the Celina Jaitly said, “This is what happened to me, and I was very young when I started a career. So for me to be just out of school, to be put straight in this world, your mind is still developing. So it was also like you decide if not this let’s do that. And in that the actor in me, I reached the point where I was like, I cannot deal with this anymore. Because it doesn’t feel right to me as an actor.”
“God has been so kind, I have been able to explore so many wonderful aspects of myself as a human being. I wrote a single in the time I took a break and it got so much love. So I had three boys, I also became a mom. Meanwhile, I worked a lot with the UN, travelled the world. I have been a wonderful man’s wife, I have been doing a lot of writing,” Celina Jaitly added.
When in the chat further, Jaitly was asked if she has any regret about her Bollywood career, She said, “My regret will always be that I never got to do the roles that suited my potential as an actor. Maybe I had no one to guide me, that’s my only regret. I am an outsider, I am an army officer’s daughter. I was too disciplined, I was too straight forward and I was not diplomatic all the time.”
Celina Jaitly who holds late Feroz Khan as her Godfather and still misses him the most said she is now on a better position and has people to guide her through. The actor spoke about a lot including LGBTQ+ rights, violence in the Indian content on OTT platforms that she does not endorse and what she wants to do next.
