With a perfect blend of talent and beauty, Trisha established herself as one of the leading actresses. Starting off as a supporting artist in films like ‘Jodi’, Trisha shot to fame after starring in major successful films like ‘Mounam Pesiyadhe’, ‘Saamy’ and ‘Ghilli’ to name a few. To be a leading actress in the industry for a period of 16 years is something Trisha herself may not have dreamed of. As Trisha celebrates her birthday today, we give you a rundown of some lesser known facts about the actress.

2/7Early life and beauty pageants

Hailing from Chennai, Trisha completed her schooling at the famous Sacred Heart Matriculation School in Church Park. Interestingly, she aspired to become a criminal psychologist and pursed her career in BBA at Ethiraj College in Chennai. At the age of sixteen, Trisha won the Miss Madras title and participated in several beauty pageants contests. In fact, she made it all the way to the finals of the Miss India competition. However, Trisha did not win the title. But soon, she got an opportunity to act in director Priyadarshan’s ‘Lesa Lesa’ in Tamil. She won appreciation for her performance in her debut film. However, it was films like ‘Ghilli’ and ‘Saamy’ that shot Trisha to the limelight.


3/7Bollywood stint

Like any other south Indian actress, Trisha was approached by Priyadarshan for the Hindi film ‘Khatta Meetha’. She was signed as the leading lady after her phenomenal growth in the Southern film industry. Trisha was paired opposite superstar Akshay Kumar in the comedy film, which was panned by critics and subsequently bombed at the box-office. Trisha’s performance, however, was lauded by audience which won her the nomination for Best Debut Actress. Unlike Tamil and Telugu, Trisha failed to cash in the popularity in Bollywood and hasn’t signed any project since then. On the other hand, several films of Trisha were either dubbed or remade in Hindi.

It’s a well-known fact that Trisha is very close to her mother Uma and the duo has been clicked together at several events and award functions. Interestingly, Trisha’s mom also manages her work commitments sometimes. Uma has also received several acting offers. On the other hand, Trisha has made headlines for her love for animals. Trisha has been the Goodwill Ambassador of an animal NGO. In 2016, Trisha landed herself in a controversy after she tweeted against jallikattu, the bull taming sport. It was Kamal Haasan who came to her rescue and asked Tamilians to not hurt Trisha. In 2010, Trisha was also the Goodwill Ambassador for an animal centre, which was organised by an animal NGO. She is known for her close association with her dog Cadbury.

Trisha loves to travel and visit as many countries as possible. In an interview, she stated that her favourite city is New York apart from Chennai. The actress had a liking to NYC after she shot for the romantic drama ‘Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya’. In a recent Twitter chat, Trisha said she wanted to travel a lot. She is also equally adventurous. A scuba diving picture of Trisha had gone viral some time back. It’s safe to say that the actress forges new frontiers every day.

Trisha is one of the current actresses in the industry who has worked with almost top superstars. In Tamil, she’s known for her frequent association with actors Vijay and Ajith, and has worked in blockbuster films like ‘Thirupachi’ and ‘Mankatha’ to name a few. She has teamed up with veteran actor Kamal Haasan twice in films like ‘Manmadhan Ambu’ and ‘Thoongavanam’. Trisha has also been equally successful in Telugu industry and has worked stars like Chiranjeevi, Mahesh Babu, Prabhas, Siddharth and Venkatesh. Notably, several films of Trisha in Telugu have become extremely successful at the box-office.

Trisha Krishnan is someone who has been choosy with her scripts, be it ‘Thoongavanam’ or ‘Kodi’. Basking in the success of the Malayalam drama ‘Hey Jude’, Trisha has a promising line-up this year. She awaits the release of the heist thriller ‘Sathuranga Vettai’ starring Arvind Swami in the lead. Trisha has been roped in to play the lead role in the horror-thriller ‘Mohini’. Apart from these two, the actress also has releases like ‘96’ with Vijay Sethupathi and ‘1818’. Later this year, she will be seen in ‘Garjani’, which is a remake of the Bollywood hit ‘NH10’.
