Internet is flooded with Laxman memes; Sunil Lahri, who played the iconic Ramayan character, reacts

If we only have to look at the glass half full amid the current crisis, it would be the opportunity we have to stay at home and watch the re-run of earlier shows, and getting full ‘80s-‘90s feels. And when we speak of ‘90s re-runs, we are reminded of Ramayan hitting back on our television screens which have broken all records even 33 years after it aired for the first time.

The iconic characters of Ram, Sita and Laxman (played by Arun Govil, Deepika Chikhalia and Sunil Lahri) have yet again been all over the news and not to forget, the hilarious memes that are going viral on the internet. Out of the many memes on Ramayan, the most popular ones are on the iconic character of Laxman, played by Lahri. In an interview, he reacted to the viral Laxman memes on the internet.

“I have seen many memes that a lot of people have sent. Even my brother’s children in the house send me the memes. I am liking it. I am enjoying it. It’s said that you are popular and that’s why they make these memes. I am honoured. I feel honoured to be a part of the memes,” shared the Lahri, in an interview with Koimoi.

Only late ‘80s-‘90s were testimony to how popular the show was (and still is) as shops would shut and the lanes would be deserted when the show aired. In fact, women also sat to watch the show, all huddled-up together with pallu over their heads.

Ramayan currently airs twice on DD- 9 am and 9 pm.
